Bangladesh School Sohar
Bangladeshi expatriates living in and around Sohar had been dreaming of sending their children to a school that would simultaneously provide quality education and respect for their own culture. Initial steps were taken in 2000 by H.E. Maj. Gen. Amin Ahmed Chowdhury(Retd), the former Ambassador of Bangladesh to Sultanate of Oman along with Bangladeshi community.
In 2008 with the encouragement and generous support from the then Board of Directors of Bangladesh Schools in Sultanate of Oman, Bangladeshi community in Sohar came forward to materialize their dream. As a result Bangladesh School Sohar started its journey in 2009 in a rented house in Sohar , on Al Wadi Hibi Street, Al Waqaibah Sohar.
Mr. Mohammed Shahidullah was the first Principal of BSS. Currently, BSS is running with around 400 students and 30 staff members. Students are mostly from Bangladesh and a few are from other nations.
The school is affiliated to IGCSE Edexcel curriculam.
Qazi Abdur Rahman has been the Principal of BSS since May 2013
In addition to the regular, prescribed and institutional imparting of education, BSS also prepares, engages and inspires its students to be their best in a quickly changing global community.
