Bangladesh School Muscat

About BSM

It was a dire necessity and collective dream to establish a community school by the Bangladeshi Community People and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh for the expatriate Bangladeshi children residing in Muscat Governorate, Sultanate of Oman. This noble vision was implemented under the auspicious intervention and patronization of H.E. Major General Amin  Ahmed Chowdhury  Bir Bikram psc. (Retd) Al Numan, former Ambassador of Bangladesh Embassy Muscat, Oman and the generous approvals from the concerned Ministries in the Sultanate of Oman. A substantial amount was given as interest free loan from the Welfare Fund of the Labour Wing of Bangladesh Embassy Muscat and quite a significant amount was collected as contribution from all Bangladeshi expatriates living in the Sultanate of Oman to meet the budgetary requirements. The pioneering role of Bangladesh Social Club is also praiseworthy in this regard.

The School was founded on 03 September 1996, and inaugurated on 09 November 1996. The first school building was a rented two-storied villa adjacent to the then Bangladesh mission located at Al Qurum. Mr. Robert Cusworth, a British national was appointed as first Principal of Bangladesh School Muscat.

The existing school complex located at the 18th November Street of North Al Ghubrah, Muscat was inaugurated in 2003 by Mrs. Syeda Latifa Amin (wife of the Founder Patron). At present the school takes pride in having a strength 2200 students, 150 staff members and students from 18 other nations apart from Bangladesh. It facilitates and nurtures indigenous culture and traditions of individual students vibrantly along with regular and vigorous academic programs.

Administratively it is one unit under a Principal, but functionally it has three separate sectors, namely Primary, Middle and Senior Sections. The school is affiliated with Edexcel International and recognized as a Centre to offer London Examinations of IGCSE ‘O’ level And GCE ‘A’ level. Accordingly the school prepares its students competently for those exams. It has wonderful scholastic records at Ordinary, Advanced Subsidiary and Advanced level exams.

The school strives to produce future generations of good citizens with high moral and ethical values with a strong sense of responsibility towards their own country, and mankind as a whole.
